About Naramata Childcare Society

The Naramata Childcare Society with yellow siding, multiple windows, and a flat roof, situated near parking spaces and surrounded by trees, mountains and Okanagan Lake in the background.

Since 1981, Naramata Childcare Society has been at the heart of our community, providing licensed, non-profit childcare for local families. We’re proud to offer both daycare and before-and-after school programs that are eligible for CCOF and ACCB funding.

Our Society is guided by a parent-led Board of Directors who care deeply about supporting children and families in Naramata. Together, we ensure that our programs remain accessible, welcoming, and rooted in the values of community and connection.

Our Approach To Learning

Two young girls are engaged in arts and crafts at a wooden table, with paper cutouts, glue sticks, and scissors around them. One girl with curly brown hair wearing a pink dress with white bows is holding a small piece, while the other girl with curly red hair wearing a floral dress is focused on her work in the background.

At Naramata Childcare Society, learning starts with play, curiosity, and kindness. We believe every child deserves the chance to learn in ways that reflect who they are. That’s why we focus on child-led, play-based experiences that encourage independence, social growth, and creative problem-solving.

We see each child as capable and unique. By offering a calm, supportive space with emergent curriculum, we’re able to shape daily activities around the children’s own interests and experiences. This approach helps children develop confidence, strong relationships, and a love for learning that carries with them far beyond our walls.

Where do your support dollars go?

As a registered non-profit society, our success depends on the efforts of parent volunteers and the parent volunteer Board of Directors.

We operate with a Group Child Care Licence (30 months - School-age) and a Group Child Care Licence (School-age - 12 years) under the Community Care & Assisted Living Act, the Child Care Licensing Regulation, and the Society Act of British Columbia.

The Naramata Childcare Society plays a fundamental role as a core childcare resource in the community of Naramata, BC. We strive to provide enjoyable learning experiences in an atmosphere of happiness, acceptance, encouragement and trust.

Funds raised are needed to offset monthly operating costs, contribute to the Hardship Fund, purchase equipment and supplies, and support maintenance.

The Hardship Fund is financial assistance during off-season, layoffs, emergencies, unforeseen circumstances or to cover the Childcare Subsidy tuition fee remainder. Ten percent (10%) of fundraising money is put into the fund, and one hundred percent (100%) of donations from the Naramata Store, Return-It Bottle Depot is contributed to the fund.
